WAIVING AND PLACEMENT PRE-COURSES

If you intend to waive or place into an accelerated course in Statistics, Finance, or Accounting by exam we will offer prep-courses in each subject between Tuesday, August 2 and Thursday, August 4. Each course will meet for approximately three hours per day.

The courses will be scheduled such that you could take the course in each subject. Students who intend to take the waiver or placement exams in these subjects are not required to take part in these prep-courses. Students who take a prep-course are not required to sit for an exam.

Click here to register for one or more of these courses.

ACCT 603 – BASIC FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

ACCT603 – Basic Financial Accounting is also accessible through Canvas. This online course must be completed prior to taking ACCT611 or ACCT613, which many first year students will take in the fall semester. ACCT603 should take about five hours to complete and like Math for Business you need not finish in one sitting.

We strongly recommend that you complete this course prior to your arrival for Pre-Term as things will get a lot busier afterwards.

If you plan to pass the placement exam and enroll in ACCT612 – Accelerated Financial Accounting or waive the accounting requirement altogether, you need not complete ACCT603. Please note however that if you are denied permission to place you should complete ACCT603 prior to enrolling in ACCT611 or 613.

MATH FOR BUSINESS AND DIAGNOSTIC EXAM

The exam is open and accessible through the Math for Business site on Canvas. To access the exam, select the “Quizzes” item from the left-side menu, then select “Online Exam Math for Business – Class of 2016” as shown in the image below.

This diagnostic exam is mandatory for all entering MBA students and must be taken prior to August 1, 2016 at 11:59pm EDT.

PARTNERS ORIENTATION

Welcome to Wharton!

On Friday, August 12 we will hold a special orientation/information session for the partners of incoming students. There will be two parts to the program and you can attend the entire day or just the morning session. The program will begin at 9 a.m. with a light breakfast and will include an opportunity to meet each other and current Wharton partners. Also included is an introduction to Philadelphia and information on some of the opportunities available to you while you are in Philadelphia and as partners. The morning session will conclude with lunch.

In the afternoon we will have a session to assist those of you that plan to work while you are here. We will be presenting a 2.5 hour session on Job Search Strategies. This session will end at approximately 4 pm. In addition we are happy to review and provide partners feedback on their resume. We have hired a professional reviewer to provide this service. If you would like to your resume reviewed, please email it to Paula Greenberg, pgreenbe@wharton.upenn.edu in Word format. She will forward it on to the reviewer.

If you would like to register for the orientation, please click here. There are a couple of questions to answer so that we can better prepare to respond to your needs. We want to be sure that we cover in the orientation the topics that are of greatest interest to you.
