Selection of Pass/Fail Status
The faculty has allowed students to take some elective coursework on a pass/fail basis. Each faculty member determines whether or not the course can be taken on this basis. The grading option can be selected either during the course registration auction or, for a limited period of time, after the close of auction (the declaration deadline is published in auction closing messages).
The following are the policies governing the pass/fail option:
- You may take up to 1cu of elective coursework per semester on a pass/fail basis (this does not include MGMT656-Global Immersion Program, MGMT891-Curricular Practical Training, or courses only offered on a pass/fail basis).
- The instructor is not notified as to who is taking a course on a pass/fail basis.
- Once the deadline for the declaration has passed, the decision to take a course on a pass/fail basis is final.
- A pass is not counted toward your GPA for the purpose of honors. A fail is counted as an F grade and will be counted toward the GPA. Students with grades of F are ineligible for First Year Honors, Graduation with Honors, Palmer Scholar, or for Director’s List in the term in which the F is earned.
