Q4 Registration

Students may register for Q4 courses through Thursday, March 17, 2015.

Waitlists for Q4 courses at capacity will advance through Thursday, March 17. Now would be a good time to check Course Match and make sure you do not have any outstanding requests for Q4 courses in which you no longer wish to enroll.

The last day to change the grading status of a Q4 elective is Thursday, March 24.

The last day to drop a full semester course without incurring a charge for consuming the credit is Thursday, March 17.

International Students and U.S. Taxes

If you are an international student, you may need to pay state and federal income tax. Visit http://global.upenn.edu/isss/tax for information about your tax obligations.

Wharton MBA Financial Aid: Second Year Financial Aid Process and GMC

WG17 Second Year Financial Aid Process

  • If you are planning to finance your education with student loans to cover your second year at Wharton, the process to apply for Federal and Private Student Loans will begin in April.  The financial aid instructions and WG17 Second Year MBA Student Budget for the 2016-2017 academic year will be sent to all students in the beginning of April and made available on Spike.
  • If you haven’t borrowed a student loan for the current academic year or are borrowing loans below the first year student budget, please note that the deadline to submit a loan application for the current academic year is Friday, April 1.

March 16 & 23: Financial Modeling Using Excel including Macros and VBA

This hands-on workshop covers building and analyzing financial models. Complete a corporate valuation model to value a firm using pro forma financial statements, discounted cash flows and other formulas. Create macros and insert VBA functions to automate financial models.  This workshop may be helpful in preparing for finance related internships and careers. Please register here for two 3 hour sessions on March 16 and March 23, 4:30-7:30 PM.

Topics include:

•         Financial formulas and functions
•         Regression analysis, Web Query and other formulas to compute WACC
•         Discounted Cash Flow Valuation based on Cash Flow Statements
•         Enterprise valuation using pro forma Financial Statements and DCF
•         Sensitivity Analysis with Data Tables, Charts, and Conditional Formatting
•         Use Macros and VBA to automate financial models
•         Use shortcut keys throughout to increase your productivity building models

Prerequisite: Knowledge of Advanced Excel commands and core finance principles

Reference materials and practice files are included.

Spring GIP Applications

We are extending the deadline to apply for Spring GIPs.  Applications for will be accepted on a rolling basis. You can find the registration packets in the MBA Program Office or on the GIP website.  If you have any questions, email the Coordinator for Global Immersion Programs, Christine Sweeney, for more information.

Leadership Program News:
  • Wharton Leadership Ventures invite you to apply to become a Venture Fellow Serving as a Venture Fellow is an incredibly rewarding experience with the opportunity to further develop as a leader and facilitate the leadership development of venture participants. The Venture Fellow Application Will be open from February 17th until March 16th . Prior participation in a Wharton Leadership Venture is not necessary.  In other words, if you haven’t participated in a venture you may still apply to be a Venture Fellow. If you have questions and were not able to attend the information session on Wednesday, please contact Jules Roy or any of our current Venture Fellows.

  • Course Match for Leadership Ventures Closes Friday! The deadline to drop Spring Leadership Workshops and/or Spring Leadership Intensives (FDNY & Quantico) via Course Match without penalty is tomorrow – 5pm EST, Friday, March 4, 2016. We expect there to be significant movement from the waitlist as this deadline approaches. Please note that if you are pulled from any waitlist by Course Match at any point before the 5 PM deadline you will be held to the enrollment policies as outlined on the website. Therefore, please check your Course Match enrollments as well as your waitlist requests and remove yourself from any Ventures you will no longer be able to attend ASAP. There are still spots available in 2 NEW workshop offerings and you can still add yourself to waitlists if you would like. To do so, log into your Course Match.
